Self Portraits

Ophelia (Hamlet)

Lady Macbeth (Macbeth)

Cleopatra (Antony and Cleopatra)

Titania (A Midsummer Nights Dream

Call it a byproduct of boredom, a lust for English lit, and a lack of suitable models; but I've been working on a series of self-portraits as modern versions Shakespearean ladies. Blogger seems titchy about uploading all of them, but at my flickr page you can see the rest (right now, Desdemona and Isabella; Juliet, Kate, Viola, and Cressida coming soon!)

For those of a technical rather than literary mind, all shot on the old Nikon D40 with a wireless shutter release; no photoshopping whatsoever. And before someone asks: yes, the snake was real, and not too happy with the flash.

Mary Anne

My best friend is convinced that she is unattractive, so of course I had to take some photos to prove her wrong...

Who's Afraid of Hazel Shade?

My first real assignment was making audition
posters for a friend's production of
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf-- and
some interesting shots came out of my first
attempts at self-portraiture. We ended up
using the dramatic smoking shot
that graces the top of this blog...
but the outtakes are interesting as well.
